Year In Review | Introduction

Welcome to Year In Review! Fashionably late as always, but here it is nonetheless; the first in a number of posts where I count my recommendations in a number of categories for the year spent, during the first weeks of January, to be followed by my wild and rambling thoughts o’ things I’m looking forward to in the new year placed in these same categories.

The 4 categories are:

  • Books (this includes books of fiction, non-fiction, speculative fiction, anthologies, poetry collections, short stories, comics, graphic novels).
  • Video Games (well, um, video games; independent or otherwise, for a variety of platforms).
  • Film (again, another self explanatory category: stuff like TV, animated films, trailers, movies, etc).
  • Miscellaneous (this includes surprise, cheeky things like web-comics, podcasts, music, blogging, Person(s) of the Year, Greatest Use of Plagiarism, gadgets, memes, trailers, art, Favourite Personal Moments etc).

Before we get started through the coming days, I should indicate that I’m not going to rank these things. As it has been said, one man’s treasure can well be another man’s garbage, and since I simply did not have enough time to try everything out there in the world of creative entertainment in 2011, I’m not going to try to fool myself in pretending like I did.

And then, when everything’s said and done, these lists will be concluded with what I’m looking forward to next year, um, this year, in their respective categories.

Happy New Year’s to you all!
